Do I need to know how to code?
No. The Starter setup is two clicks (import the JSON file into n8n) and one paste (the embed snippet onto your website). The setup PDF walks you through every screen with screenshots. If you've ever set up a Gmail account, you can set this up. If you don't want to touch any of it, the
Done-for-You tier exists for that — buy the $297 tier and I'll install it for you.
What's n8n?
n8n is a free automation platform you self-host (like Zapier, but you own it). Their cloud version has a free tier that covers 5,000 chatbot conversations a month — enough for any small contractor. You sign up, paste your free Anthropic API key (also takes 2 minutes), and import the workflow. Done.
What about my existing CRM (Jobber, HousecallPro, ServiceTitan)?
Contractachat doesn't replace your CRM. It feeds it. Every completed intake sends you an email — copy the details into your CRM, or in the Pro tier we can wire the workflow to forward leads directly into Jobber/HousecallPro via their APIs.
What does it cost to run after I buy it?
n8n cloud: free (up to 5,000 conversations/month). Anthropic API: roughly $0.01–$0.03 per conversation depending on length. For a typical small contractor doing 5–20 leads a week, you're looking at $1–$5/month in API costs. That's it. No SaaS subscription.
What if Anthropic shuts down or raises prices?
You own the workflow. The "brain" is a single configurable node — swap it for OpenAI, Gemini, or even a local Ollama model in two clicks. You'll never be locked in.
What's the refund policy?
14 days, no questions asked. Just reply to the welcome email. The only conditions: the workflow JSON hasn't been redistributed, and you haven't shared your n8n credentials with anyone outside your business.
Can I customize the questions the bot asks?
Yes — that's exactly what the question bank CSV does. Open it in Excel or Sheets, edit the rows, save, re-import. Pro tier ships with HVAC + plumbing + electrical banks. Custom industries (roofing, locksmiths, etc.) are available as a small add-on — email
email.
Will this work on my Squarespace / Wix / WordPress / GoDaddy site?
Yes. If your site has a place to paste custom HTML or a script tag (every major builder does, usually under "Custom Code" or "Footer Injection"), the chat will work. The setup PDF includes step-by-step screenshots for Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, and GoDaddy.
What if I don't have a website at all?
The chatbot also has a standalone URL (no website required). You can share it on your Google Business Profile, Yelp listing, Facebook page, business cards with a QR code — anywhere a customer might find you. The standalone page is also branded with your business name and trade.
Does it work outside the US?
Yes. The "service area" is defined by whatever postal codes you put in — US ZIPs, Canadian postal codes, UK postcodes, anything. The AI agent speaks any language Claude supports (50+). The PDF setup guide is English-only for now.
How long until I get my first lead?
Depends entirely on your existing traffic. If you already have a website getting visitors, the chat starts capturing them immediately. If your website gets zero traffic, the chatbot can't fix that — but you can use the standalone URL on your Google Business Profile, Facebook, or business cards, which sends visitors directly to the chat.
Can I resell this to other contractors?
Not the workflow file itself — that's against the license. But you're welcome to use Contractachat in client work as a contractor / agency: build customized chatbots for the businesses you serve and charge for that service. Email if you want the details on the agency license.
What gets shipped to me when I buy?
A single Gumroad download containing: the n8n workflow JSON file, a CSV template for your service area, the chat widget embed snippet, and a setup PDF. Pro adds the multi-trade question banks, a 30-min Loom walkthrough, a brand kit, 5 PDF templates, and a branded email template. Done-for-You replaces all of that with a Calendly booking — I do the setup for you.
Is the AI going to say something stupid to my customers?
The agent is constrained by a strict system prompt with explicit rules — no claims about coverage it can't verify, no diagnoses without the workflow's blessing, no JS expressions in output. It triages, gathers info, and hands off to you. It doesn't quote prices, schedule appointments unilaterally, or commit your business to anything. Every conversation is logged so you can review what was said.
What if a chatbot conversation goes off the rails?
Every chat session is captured in your n8n data tables so you can read the full transcript anytime. If a conversation looks weird, you can copy/paste the transcript back to me at
email and I'll help debug. For abusive customers, the system prompt has a "rude" detection rule that issues one warning then escalates to email-only follow-up.
